The library is free for anyone to browse. You must have a library card if you wish to borrow library materials. Anyone living in Wiscasset, Alna, Edgecomb, or Westport, or students and teachers of the Wiscasset School System may have a free library card. All other people must pay an annual fee or borrow our books through their own library by interlibrary loan.
Identification is required when applying for a library card. You must show identification with a current mailing address.
All children through the eighth grade must register in the Children's Room and have a parent or legal guardian signature on their registration card.. All children under the age of 12 years must come and remain in the company of an adult.
Library patrons may borrow most materials from the library for 2 weeks, with a limit of one each of new fiction and new non-fiction. No renewals are done on books that have a reserve attached. Others may be renewed in person or by telephone up to three times. Art reproductions circulate for 4 weeks and are renewable.
If you have questions about your overdue notice, please call the library at 207-882-7161.
The library does not charge late fees. All we ask is for the return of the items in a timely manner. Patrons receiving a late notice are asked to return the items or pay for the items.
Patrons who have items one month overdue will be mailed an overdue letter and given the opportunity to return the items.
Patrons who have items two months overdue will be mailed a bill. Regretfully, these patrons’ library privileges will be suspended until the items are returned or paid.
Items that are 3 months overdue may have been replaced by the library. If the items have been replaced, the library will no longer accept the item in return. The price of the item must be paid.
